The quote above is one of Dr. Ocean's favorites (and one he loves to share with just about anyone who gives him their ear!). It parrallels strongly the way he approaches what he likes to call the "art of dentistry."
Just like art, dentistry takes creative skill and imagination and Dr. Ocean showcases this through his biological approach for his patients' total well-being. He sees beyond a "one-size-fits-all" approach to dental care and dedicates himself to truly understanding his patients' needs and concerns and providing tailored treatment plans and care reaching beyond the teeth.
Dr. Ocean knew at an early age that he wanted to help people take care of their health. After completing his undergraduate training at San Diego State College in California, he followed his passion for oral health to America's heartland and obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry.
Since then, Dr. Ocean has been on a mission to share information about dental wellness and the link between periodontal and systemic health with his patients so that they can make educated decisions about caring for their oral and general health. He shares the holistic, or biological, dentistry philosophy that the teeth and their associated structures are a part of the whole body and strongly believes that one cannot be truly healthy wihout sound oral health.
Dr. Ocean feels that continuing education is a powerful tool that allows him to provide patients with the best, state-of-the-art dental care and each year completes many hours of continuing education courses. He has completed advanced training in a wide variety of areas of traditional, cosmetic and biocompatible dentistry.
Dr. Ocean is on the staff of Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center and is an active member of the American Dental Association, Nevada Dental Association and Northern Nevada Dental Society.
